Footballer In Intensive Care After Falling From Balcony On Holiday

-

A Saudi Arabian footballer is in intensive care after falling from a second-floor balcony while on holiday in Dubai.

Fahad Al-Muwallad, who plays for Saudi Pro League club, Al-Shabab, and played for his country at the 2018 World Cup, fell while on a short holiday in the city, police said.

Dubai’s Police General Command said in a statement late on Saturday that an accident occurred while the 30-year-old winger was on the balcony, and they were continuing to investigate.

The force said Al-Muwallad is “in intensive care in one of Dubai’s hospitals, where the efforts of the medical teams continue to provide him with the necessary care.”

The fall happened on Thursday, according to a number of reports.

He was immediately rushed to Rashid Hospital having suffered multiple fractures, The Mirror said.

A statement from his club, Al-Shabab, said Al-Muwallad had “suffered a health incident” and was in hospital in Dubai.

“We wish him a speedy recovery,” the statement said.

Al-Muwallad has spent most of his career in his home country, starting with Al-Ittihad where he scored 76 goals in a little under 250 games.

He had a brief loan spell with Spanish side Levante, making just two appearances but becoming the first Saudi footballer to play in the Spanish top division.

The attacker has played 74 times for Saudi Arabia, scoring 17 goals, according to transfermarkt.com.
