Man Who Threw Objects At Nigel Farage During Election Campaign In Barnsley Avoids Jail

-

A man who threw items at Nigel Farage during the election campaign has avoided being sent to prison.

Josh Greally, 28, was sentenced to six weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, at Barnsley Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work, 20 rehabilitation activity days and pay £85 court costs and a surcharge of £154.

Greally pleaded guilty to a public order offence after throwing what appeared to be a disposable coffee cup and another object at the Reform UK leader in Barnsley town centre, South Yorkshire, on 11 June.

Mr Farage was campaigning on the top deck of his battle bus when the objects were thrown.

Footage showed him ducking to dodge the objects, which did not hit him.

A week before, Mr Farage had a milkshake thrown at him while leaving a Wetherspoons pub in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, where he is now the MP.
