Parramatta shooting: man killed outside apartment building and car found torched nearby

-

Police are investigating after a man was gunned down outside an apartment building in western Sydney, and a car was found alight in a neighbouring suburb.

The victim was shot about 3.30am on Monday in Parramatta and treated by paramedics at the scene but could not be saved.

The site at Harold Street was still cordoned off mid-morning as specialist forensic police investigated.

The dead man was yet to be formally identified but police believed he was a 29-year-old.

A second crime scene was set up in nearby Granville, where a stolen sedan was found alight about 3.45am.

Two men were reportedly seen leaving the scene in another vehicle, police said.

Investigators were unsure if the two incidents were connected but the fire was being treated as suspicious.
