Keir Starmer said Rishi Sunak should apologise for the ‘£22bn black hole’ in government finances, after Sunak asked if Starmer would publish the impact assessment on Labour’s decision to cut the winter fuel payment. Sunak said the measure would affect ’10 million pensioners, including those on just £13,000 a year’. Starmer said mitigations were in place and that the triple lock meant increases in pensions would ‘outstrip any loss of payments’
