Undecided voter likes Vance’s pledge to unify country after election

-

(NewsNation) — “I want my friends back.”

That’s how Rebecca Sander explained her question to Sen. JD Vance during his NewsNation town hall Thursday. Sander asked Vance how he and Donald Trump will bring the country together if they’re elected.

“Two weeks from today, half of our country is going to be devastated,” Sander said.

“I feel like Trump can’t bring unity even if he tries really hard, so the fact that Vance feels some ownership there” is reassuring, she told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo after the event.

Vance: Housing costs are biggest threat to the American dream

Another questioner came in to the town hall undecided, and left feeling the same way.

“I’m not undecided between Trump and Harris. I’m undecided if I’m even gonna vote at the top of the ticket,” Ayesha Langston said. “I’m disgusted with Washington. I don’t even know about the Senate race. I’m going to vote on my local (races).”

Langston said she has not been satisfied with either side’s answers about helping those at the lowest end of America’s economic scale, no matter where they live.

Vance critical of Ronald Reagan for homelessness crisis

“People in the projects have the same problems as people in the trailer parks. And yet they’re voting for Trump, and they tell us in the city that we have to vote for Harris, and I’m just not with that.”

Langston did acknowledge that she came away with a favorable opinion of Vance.

“I wanted to see how he interacted with us. And I actually did like him. It would be better if he was at the top of the ticket, (but) I still might not vote for him,” she said.
